[Edward sets free a growling purr, curving his head around to rest beside Sigmund, lifting a wing to cover him and keep the snow from falling on him, and sheltering him from the wind.]

This form serves as a reminder that I am living a double life. It feels familiar, and yet so different from how I've been for the past seventeen years.

The rite for becoming an aristo makes the transition much smoother. Just a few days ago, I felt strongly about things like meages do. Now, my mind is nearly entirely driven by logic.

Logic says that because I am uncomfortable with this, I should not tell you about it. But my heart says that you are Edward, and I should tell you because I trust you. There are so many inconsistencies in my mind, and wading through them is tiresome. A man should be a meage or an aristo. Not both.

[Another silence, as Edward considers this. He's never been one for deep thought, preferring to follow his instincts in such matters, but becoming an ancient deified dragon has warped his mind somewhat so the thought is more acceptable.]

I cannot speak from experience, my lord, as I have never been anything but a meage, while you have been all three in your lifetimes. But perhaps this is a learning experience for you as well - a test to see if one's heart can overcome the logic of the mind.

[Sigmund pauses for a moment, pondering his words.]

It is a waste of my time. I do not wish to follow the path of an aristo any longer, but in my heart I know that there are things that I cannot ignore because of that reason. In my heart I know what I should do, but in this form I am continuously hung up on logic. Too long I have not been in control of an aristo's mind, and it causes me ill.

[Edward lowers his head to rest against the snow, eyes closing briefly.]

In that case... maybe you can instead take comfort that whatever your aristo logic might say, there are no rules or laws here that you must follow. Here you are not a king bound to serve his country, and the only one you can truly command is me. You have more options in this place than in Casandra.

You have a wind-based lunaglyph, don't you? Some have used their wind lunaglyphs to help them learn to fly over the ages. It would not be like flying as Saruleus, but it is still possible.

[Edward's eyes widened significantly at that. Fly? He'd never heard of such a thing! But Sigmund, with Volsung's memories, must truly have seen some amazing things in his lifetime.]

Such a power would be amazing, my lord... though I'm not certain I have the discipline to learn a skill so incredible.

It would not quite be like training yourself to fight, but more like mastering your own lunaglyph.

[Edward resists the urge to flail, since doing so would a) look undignified and b) probably cause mass destruction around him. He did of course look embarrassed immediately.]

M-my lord! I was being serious! You know as well as any that I find magical studies challenging, to say the least. Mustering the power to add a lunaglyph effect to a brief attack with the blade is nothing compared to the concentration it would take to lift myself off the ground.

[Sigmund tilts his head slightly, but reaches over to give the dragon an affectionate pat.]

I know that they prove challenging for you, but I also know that you are difficult to pull away from a challenge. If you wish to learn to fly with your own power, I know that you can do it. It is a matter of focus and learning to manipulate your lunaglyph's power. There may be more you can do than just fly.

I'll think about it. It would look strange, flying without wings. In truth, my lord, you are far more likely to fly with your own lunaglyph before I am.
