Why would I do such a thing? It's expected that someone else would take it upon themselves to look after it. A blacksmith is necessary in a place as dangerous as this. People will always need weapons, after all.

Yeah, I guess that's true. You're welcome to come back and work here. It's just me and Winry now, but we keep pretty busy, especially when we get all these new weapons during the New Feather season.

[A short while later, along comes an Edward, mercifully no longer just in muddy white pants but rather his usual blue outfit. Woo, normality!]

[He'll find Sokka lounging around on the couch (yes, there's a couch now) in the smithy. He'll probably notice that the entire weapon shop has been rearranged in a different style than it used to be. But it's clean for the most part and fairly organized. New Feather weapons even have their own display rack.

But thanks to a handy bell installed on the door, Sokka will notice Edward's arrival immediately. He'll hop up immediately.] Edward, right?

Well let's see. We keep those over there. [He points off to one corner.] But we put the newly arrived stuff over there. [And he points to a counter closer to the entrance.]

I see... thank you, I'll remember that in case I need to direct a newcomer myself. [And he heads over to check out the new swords. Thankfully his sword is kind of massive, so it takes him all of five seconds to find the place and notice it lying there. He hefts it up, giving it a thorough inspection. Hmm... looks alright.]
