To all new arrivals, or simply uninformed residents of the village- just as Winry stated earlier this week, we at the smithy are available for metalworking commissions. Currently we're lacking in projects, so if you have any desire for a weapon or some kind of crafted work, feel free to make a request. I specialize in advanced weaponry design and armor.

Additionally, I... request the advice of anyone who's had difficulty controlling the elements. Whether it is by way of this world's spirits, or your own world's magic- if you found it a challenge, and have since mastered the obstacles that stood in your way, how did you do it?

[Edward's going to be at the smithy for most of the day, working away on some sketches and developing new projects for the future- or present, if he gets no commissions. He's mostly designing new swords and armor.]

Well hey, at least you have the smithy where you can stay warm, right? If worse comes to worst you can just keep the hearth going and sleep in there.

Very true. I spend a great deal of time working at the fire anyway, so there's no reason to not take advantage of it.

[Guy is wondering just how obvious he should be. He's curious, but he and Edward aren't exactly friends yet so the question might not be appreciated. Maybe something more vague.]

What about your housemates? Are they all doing fine, too?

They're... doing well. It's been a quiet few months.

[In other words, zero progress.]

[Edward you need like a Sassy Gay Friend to help you out.]

That quiet, huh? [That sucks.]

I guess quiet is better than something bad happening.

That's one way of looking at the matter. [It does still suck, though. Majorly.]

Nope, I was just wondering if you'd like company.

[Oh, unexpected again.]

If you want. [PLEASE COME OVER CHEERFUL MAN, he can dork with you about swords.]

Right! I'll make my way over.

Do you prefer coffee, tea or neither?

We have some supplies here at the smithy. If you want to bring teabags, that's fine. [He'll just go boil the kettle.]

Be there in a minute. [And maybe he'll stay until Ed has to leave so he can actually find his way home.

AND SOON HE ARRIVES. AND THEN HE WAS THERE.]

Edward?

[Edward looks up from a sheet of paper he'd been working on, a steaming kettle resting on the desk beside him.]

I'm still here.

Oh good. [Guy lifts the box of teabags he brought, setting them on the desk next to Edward's hand.]

Keeping yourself nice and busy, I see.

[Edward shrugs, pushing aside the sketches to avoid spilling on them, and goes about serving tea. There's an obvious lack of elegance there - he's not really the serving type, even Sigmund gets clumsy tea - but he doesn't seem to care.]

A friend commissioned me to craft a suit of armor for him, so I've started designing it.

[Luckily Guy is not very concerned about the elegance with which Edward serves him tea as he leans over to look at the sketches.]

Your work is impressive, as usual. You really don't do this for a living? You have a great hand for it.

It used to be just a hobby. I'd never considered doing it as a profession until well after I started working here.

[It's... oddly satisfying. It makes him uncertain about what he'll be doing when the Liberation Force finally cuts the last chain and kills Leonid.]

That's even better! Being that good at something you just enjoy doing as a hobby. Maybe you can take it up professionally when you get back home, huh?

Possibly. [Though there was that "king" business Sokka had mentioned... that's been weighing on him a little.] I can't give it any real consideration until I've completed my mission.

[Edward, did you know you read like an open book?]

Yeah, I guess that's a bit more important.

[No one's dared to tell him. He's not entirely comfortable with discussing that, though, so he slides a cup towards Guy.]

Did you want to discuss your request, then?

Hey, I told you this was just a social call, remember? I don't even have the designs drawn up yet.

[Edward shrugs carelessly, gesturing to the drawings he already has before lifting his mug.]

That didn't stop Capell. It doesn't matter when I get the request, though, so do as you please.

Hahaha; I can't really draw them myself, you see. It's a joint project, and I'm kind of an amateur when it comes to design.
