[The journal flicks on to the sound of sloshing water; there's a sudden splash, a loud curse, and after a moment of quiet, it's lifted to reveal a disgruntled man some might find familiar.]

Well I've never really used a sword like that. Where I'm from, you kind of have to be fast with your weapon to really have a chance.

I can be fast if I have to be. [Slightly defensive, there. His element is wind, goddammit, he's not a slowpoke!]

Well, I'm sure you can. It's just the people I fight? They're constantly shooting fire or boulders at you.

...Chains, for me. Chains and a dark power that's difficult to explain.

... chains? How exactly does that work? [The dark powers don't seem to grab his attention as much.]

I'm not sure of exactly how he controls them, but the Dreadknight can summon chains out of nothing and use them to attack, bind, deflect... he is one to be reckoned with.

Sounds like bad news. You wouldn't happen to know if he's in Luceti, would you?

...Have you heard a pompously irritating and overconfident man bemoaning the loss of his beloved moon god?

... not as such, no. [He better not have, anyways. His old girlfriend BECAME the Moon Spirit, dammit!]

In that case, it's likely he isn't here. [And we should all be thankful for that.]

Well that's good news. We've got enough bad guys as it is.

There are more enemies in Luceti now? [There were only a couple last time he was around, and they didn't do much harm.]

... I could give you the full list, but I'll stick with the big three for now.

First, there's Yuber. He's a demon swordsman, extremely fast, and can teleport at will. He likes to pick people off in the woods, but he'll escape if someone gets the better of him. Right now he's off at that war I mentioned.

Then there's Kefka. Some kind of deranged clown wizard. He has a lot of powerful magic, though he tends to focus on only a few people. He also tries to trick people into becoming his ally. He teleports too.

And then there's Aku. Big, shapeshifting, black demon guy. He shoots beams from his eyes, breathes fire, and can turn into whatever he wants. Apparently only 'holy' magic and weapons work on him. Not sure if he teleports. But he blew up the grocery store two weeks ago.

They seem to have become more aggressive during my absence. I'll have to warn Lord Sigmund, then- thank you for your information.

No problem. Maybe you could tell me about these Third Party guys now?

Only that they attacked before, that the Malnosso are sending us out to fight them, and [there's a hesitant pause] what happened to Jacob.

I see. [Edward crosses his arms, pondering this for a moment.] They were strange creatures, even by Luceti's standards. Great winged creatures, appearing human, but with invisible weapons and powers that seemed to alter reality itself. There were times when I felt that an attack that should have hit was dodged with no explanation as to how- my opponent didn't simple move fast enough to do so, it was as if they were no longer in the same space. [His brows furrow.] It wasn't teleporting, either. I believe the term is, "Shifting". We were also told that if the barrier hadn't been in place, such abilities would have allowed them to easily overcome us.

But they're sending about thirty people to deal with two hundred of those guys. Without the barrier!

I cannot say that our captors are well known for their intelligence.

Well great. That's encouraging.

There is very little in the way of encouragement in this place, I find.

Speaking of which, when I took over the smithy, some little girl came looking for you.

A little girl?

Was her name Lymle, by any chance? With brown hair and an odd speech pattern?

[That was so long ago!] That sounds about right. She wanted me to make sure I kept the smithy in good condition for when you came back. I never did see her again, though.
