[If you happen to be out and about in the village today, you might find find a strange sight. There is a scattered trail of brightly coloured candies in the snow, in various locations throughout the village. Where a tree or a bush might have once been, there is now nothing but candy. In the smithy, what was once a sword is now candy. The broom that might have been useful in cleaning up such a mess is also gone. Certain spots in the grocery store are full of candy as well- as if someone had taken something off of a shelf and replaced it with a handful of sweets. The entire tomato and pepper sections have been completely cleared out, inside transformed into bins of candy.

And in the plaza, sitting on the edge of the fountain, is Edward, his face buried in his arms. It's hard to tell if he's annoyed or just downright depressed. And the fountain itself, instead of being filled with the normal flowing water or even seasonal ice?

[Poking through the brightly colored candies to actually dig them out.] I'm asking you because--

[She's just bewildered now.]

[STOP LOOKING AT HIM LIKE THAT] I don't know!! They just changed like that for no reason!

[He might just be avoiding looking at her now. Uuuugh he really wanted to avoid this kind of thing until he figured out the problem.]

I'm fine. ...Sorry about the vegetables. [Only not really. Who the hell would want to eat peppers anyway.]

Think fast! [And she throws - not one of her two precious peppers, but an onion at his head. Because if she saw what she thought she saw - she'd just like confirmation that she's not going crazy, OK?]

[hgdjsfkhkdjsfhkjsd CATCHING- and- crap. He moves fast, doesn't really think fast. The onion dissolves into a handful of candies, and he stares down at them as they scatter on the floor. Yeah, definitely caught that time.]

[Bending down to pick up one of the skittles now.]

...Candy, I think. [He's never seen it before in his life. And now his hands are behind his back because sob, he doesn't want to touch anything else.]

[She straightens, holding the brightly colored ball in front of her between her thumb and forefinger and examining it curiously before looking up at him again.]

Is that happening every time you touch something?

[He nods.] No matter what I touch. Even doors or living things. [Hastily, he adds:] But I only touched plants!

[Her eyes widen briefly at that.] Well, that's good!

[Gah, this is terrible!]

[This is seriously not good. How will he be able to defend himself without turning his enemies into brightly colored balls of... slightly hard squishy things? And what if he touches something - or someone by accident?]

...what about these things? When you touch them, do they just turn into more of them?

They seem to just change colour. I was going to try picking them up, but I didn't want to end up touching the floor.

Hmm.... Catch. [And she flicks the skittle in her hand towards him.]

[This time Edward doesn't move, the candy bouncing harmlessly off his breastplate.] ...Was that really necessary?

It would have been, if you'd just caught it! How else are we going to find out if it works on them or not?

[She has an Idea, okay?]

[Grumble. Edward crouches down, picking up the candy she'd thrown and tossing it back at her. It looks like it changed colour, but little else.] What was the point of that?

[markofthebrave]

[She nods.] Okay, good. We need to get you some mittens. We can stuff the inside with these things and then maybe you won't have to worry about doing this to anyone accidentally.

[Katara you can't be serious.] That's a ridiculous idea.

Oh yeah? Give me one reason why it wouldn't work.

The candies would move around too much!
